Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club Talkin Tarn
Amateur Rowing Club (TTARC) founded in 1859 is based on a 65-acre lake, part of The Talkin
Tarn Country Park. Administered by Cumbria County Council and located 2 miles south of the
small market town of Brampton (population approximately 2,500) and 9 miles east of
Carlisle in Cumbria. The size of the lake allows 3 lane racing over the 750 metres. The
club hosts a regatta once a year. The
primary aim of the club is to provide an opportunity for anyone to take part in the sport
of rowing. TTARC comprises a broad span of ages from juniors of 8 years old to veterans of
70 years plus. The infrastructure of the club is built on a strong network of volunteer
coaches, officials and administrators which has brought numerous success in the past
including members competing at national and international level and veterans competing at

Southport and District Table Tennis League
The Southport and District Table Tennis League was first formed at a meeting held on
Monday the 1st November 1932. Mr. Bertrand Travis was elected as Chairman and Treasurer of
the League with Norman Harrison as League Secretary. The following week another meeting
was held to formulate the League rules. It was decided that one division of 8 teams was to
be formed. The eight teams being YMCA, Southport, Avondale, Holy Trinity, Red Triangle,
Christ Church, Chapel Street and Church of Christ. From the League archives it appears the
